Hi, My name is Sala Nanyanzi Senkayi, I am also a Ugandan. I love Rugby and I currently play Touch Rugby for the Dallas Touch Rugby Team. I am wanting to start a Ugandan Touch Rugby Team, what do you think? Are there interested players? I hope to make it to Uganda sometime next year. What does the Ugnadan Rugby season look like for next year.
I found 1 other blogger on the Ugandan Women's Squad, and I sent her a note last night. I have talked to 2 Ugandan men Ruggers who showed some interest, but nothing ever came of it. I think it would be best to take a mixed Ugandan Touch Team to the next Federation of International Touch (FIT) games. Since we would still be a new and learning team. That way the Best of the men's and the best of the women's team members from Uganda would get to see how the best in the world play. And take home what was learned.
Touch is a great way to keep in shape for Rugby and you don't get hurt. We have kids who play with our team and this prepares them for the real Rugby. Most all of our players play on a mens team in Dallas, so the idea is that this can only make you a more competitive and better Rugger. And you don't have to go out and buy new gear, just show up to play. I think that with Uganda's speed, we would have a good chance at placing in Touch. It's a very fast game.
Congrats to Uganda Rugby (especially the women), and I hope to hear more great things about our team.
Sala
